What an idiot. Dude could have easily lost control of their car. I don't understand why they can't just merge behind you, move over, and then pass you when it's safe to do so.

201

u/thekrazmaster Apr 02 '23

Because people think they'll go slower by merging behind someone and we can't have that.

9

u/windol1 Apr 02 '23

Is this why a car pulled out at a junction in front of me with just enough time to spare, then proceeds to do 40mph the entire time I was behind them.

-79

u/____HAMILTON__ Apr 02 '23 edited Apr 02 '23

Then, if we go to the opposite side of the spectrum comments on this sub, they explicitly state they will “merge because who wants to f*** drive behind people. Cut them off and fast!”

You see the very idiots in these videos commenting here and getting thousands of updoots lmao

38

u/thekrazmaster Apr 02 '23

I've learned that people can be brain-dead and still get their licenses. The amount of idiotic behavior I encounter on the road in just a couple of miles around my home is rage-inducing.

20

u/N0tInKansasAnym0r3 Apr 02 '23

We need driving reform. It should be harder to get your license. There should be testing every few years. Cops should do a better job holding people accountable for stuff on the road, and the courts shouldn't push back on "stupid tickets".

15

u/squibilly Apr 02 '23

Not knowing how to drive doesn't ACTUALLY mean not knowing. They passed a driving test by driving like a civilized human, but once they're on their own, they are a complete animal.

They don't give a shit about rules normally, but will still pass the tests.

9

u/N0tInKansasAnym0r3 Apr 02 '23

No but we can average down on the "I'm a great driver but I don't use signals, brake appropriately, drive at a safe distance, accelerate to speed on the on ramps, stop when turning out of private lots and alleys, and turn off my high beams for oncoming traffic Ect" people. I've met enough people that don't understand basic concepts of driving but still claim to be great drivers that need to be educated.

2

u/thekrazmaster Apr 02 '23

Why don't people use turn signals? Like it's right there on the steering wheel. You just flick it. The amount of times people hard break to turn somewhere without turning their turn signal on really gets on my nerves.

3

u/N0tInKansasAnym0r3 Apr 02 '23

It's not just that. It's the timing of using turn signals too. Doing it as your turning, changing lanes, or using it but then realizing theirs a car next to yours so you turn it off only to reuse it when the car passes, and thinking it guarantees you the right away are all improper uses. Yet somehow that person has the audacity to say "but I used my signal".

3

u/thekrazmaster Apr 02 '23

I hate when people use their turn signal as they turn. There's literally no point to doing it at that point.

I have a friend who’s like this and I don’t understand why 👀👀she assumes everyone on the road is in a negative serious competition with her tryna spite her and her attitude while driving is “I’ll show them” as if she’s enacting revenge.. when she was in the car with me, I was going the speed limit and she got mad, bcc I wasn’t speeding like how she does , in the car she’s just, no patience , she’ll swerve In between cars as if she’s in a motorcycle. Don’t worry she just wrecked last month and almost died because shed rather rave and take space rather than slow down and save her own life. Her own child was in the car too btw.. I’m glad she’s okay though, she’s still my friend. It was her fault and she got this truck driver mad so he kinda drove her off the road or something like that. It was inevitable. I’m such a careful driver , I will never understand how people like my own dad drive as if this mobile murder machine is nothing but a toy

29

u/firefish5000 Apr 02 '23

I've got a cousin who thinks the horn is an f-u button. I very quickly learned why she decided it is easier to rent cars than own them from wreck cost. When you have such a low temperament and high retaliation ofc your crashing every couple years. She is fine outside of driving so I was really caught off guard. Slight beep and suddenly she is tailgating laying on the horn and following a guy while we are in a place she calls the middle of "the hood"...

10

u/ElectricMotorsAreBad Apr 02 '23

It was her fault

she got this truck driver mad so he kinda drove her off the road or something like that

She may be an idiot, but wtf? Where do you live that almost killing someone because they've made you mad is inevitable?

2

u/Sandknitter0G Apr 03 '23

It's not even about the area, the fact that we're all humans, means we all make mistakes at some point in our lives, and even behind the wheel. You could be a top notch f1 driver, but even a f1 driver will make a mistake playing traffic racer eventually. It's just how humans are, and it's why we have speed limits etc. It's to keep you and everyone else on the roads safe incase one of us does mess up. Roads are designed not just for us to go as fast as possible, but to reduce the potential injury sustained by an accident. Even someone's extra 5mph could be a difference of life and death.

Although I don't care about ppl going 5mph over, it's more the 15 -20 mph over is where I see that person have no regards of care for safety for anyone on the road.

Literally public roads are for everyone, if you don't have anyone that loves you, I'm sorry that it's like that, but maybe realize that most of us have actual loved ones driving on these roads. If someone just recklessly speeding happened to hit and kill my mom, I'd swear I'd make it my life's mission to ensure that your court hearing no one has a single drop of remorse for ya, since you were already so selfish in first place. Just have to get to ur destination 2-5mins early... imo just isn't worth potentially hurting someone else

2

u/ElectricMotorsAreBad Apr 03 '23

Literally public roads are for everyone, if you don't have anyone that loves you, I'm sorry that it's like that, but maybe realize that most of us have actual loved ones driving on these roads.

The hell are you on about bro? I never said I condone speeding or reckless driving

Inevitable that she got into a wreck, dumb dumb, not you tryna be offended at my story. with how hot headed she is on the road. every car that she could reach to be offended by, she’d act on it. Throw trash at their window, Flip them off, cuss at them, etc. And she loved to race people who aren’t even racing her. I’m not even talking shit, this is just what I’ve witnessed from her lol it’s almost like she’d do that to appear cool infront of me

10

u/ElectricMotorsAreBad Apr 02 '23

I'm not defending her, but the way you worded that comment makes it seem like the trucker running her off the road on purpose is just another thursday.

I'm not "trying to be offended" at your story, I'm just baffled by it.

10

u/Apprehensive_Bed3362 Apr 02 '23

Yea, it’s whatever lol. Since you’re here , here’s some extra new recent detail to that juicy story. Her mom got fed up with her attitude, and her problem causing nature, wrecking a car that doesn’t belong to her because she can’t cool her temper, and that temper persisted at home, so the mother recently got mad and kicked her out her house last week . I told her “I’m sorry that happened” and she went “I’m not sorry shit I didn’t want to live with her ass anyways” lol she’s living w one of her boyfriends as of rn

6

u/thefirstwingedalpha Apr 02 '23

"she's living with one of her boyfriends" That sounds like a whole other story

6

u/Apprehensive_Bed3362 Apr 02 '23

Yea she’s really really pretty , she actually got pregnant before the age of 18 by a dude who was over 21, who was having sex with her all the way back when she was 16… yea ik he’s a weirdo who fucks minors , even after he found out she was a minor he kept pursuing her. She cheats on him w Other guys but stays with him (the pedo) because he financially supports her and buys her things (he’s not rich at all lol I’m not tryna imply that” but yup her life is a MESS, teen mom, not pursuing school, cheating on her BD, getting kicked out, bad attitude, I wonder what’s gonna happen in the future with her , I just text her here and there and hang out. But yes I can agree, all her problems, almost every single one, was a result of her actions, all her fault, she’s just an annoying person and I would never ever live with her/ be too close. She’s my friend because I knew her since we were 7 years old

People like her is the reason why I am choosy of who I go in the car with. People's driving skills are indicative of how a person is in all areas of their life. I don't go into a car with a reckless driver or a speed demon.

They did. OP floored it in order to keep them from passing. Video has two idiots.

-4

u/judasmaiden15 Apr 02 '23

No they didn't, you call tell it's a slow v6 crossover with a bad 5-60 time that tried to pass. That's what lack of horsepower looks like in a heavy vehicle

16

u/carorea Apr 02 '23

I don't know if OP deleted it, but he literally had a comment admitting he floored it to prevent them from passing.

Someone did math based on the time for white lines to pass and estimated OP sped up by about 18 mph during the video (likely from 70 to 88 if the lines/distance between them are standard length).

Edit: OP admitting he accelerated.

Math comment.

9

u/Clevelanduder Apr 02 '23

I do not understand why a driver speeds up if someone is tailgating and attempts to not let them pass - you just make the situation 100x worse

It's probably my single biggest pet peeve. There will be no one behind me, and someone has to speed up just to cut me or someone in front of me off, resulting in me/us having to brake.

It's madness.

55

u/coybus08 Apr 01 '23

It’s the opposite of pulling out in front of you on an empty road.

26

u/ialsohaveinternet Apr 02 '23

Surely, the opposite of 'pulling out in front of you on an empty road' is 'pushing in behind you on a busy road'.

8

u/afa78 Apr 02 '23

It's even worse when they don't merge behind or in front of you, rather right where you are! They wanna push you into the other lane.

u/Clevelanduder Apr 02 '23

Or merging onto an empty highway well ahead of someone in the right lane but they ride your ass like you just blatantly cut them off

-1

u/Mr_Golf_Club Apr 02 '23

I have 0 shame accelerating when I can tell it’s obvious too, don’t care if they know it because I already know what they’re up to.

People are wayyyyyy too competitive. Driving is not the daytona 500

22

u/dhof1980 Apr 02 '23

Seriously. Like its ok to be behind someone.

10

u/obxtalldude Apr 02 '23

And it's ok to brake when someone is about to do something really stupid.

It's weird how reluctant the drivers are to slow in so many of these videos - half the time they'd rather swerve into the other lane.

5

u/BorodinoWin Apr 03 '23

fr. my first thought was that the cameraguy was ready to lose his car over 3 mph.

does he speed up when he sees the car merging???

2

u/ThromaDickAway 23d ago

OP and SUV driver are both idiots.

13

u/obxtalldude Apr 02 '23

I'm hoping by the upvotes here this anti braking culture is changing.

It so weird how people know they are near an idiot, and don't try and get away in half of these videos. I much prefer to watch the action from a distance.

4

u/Scared-Accountant288 Apr 02 '23

Yea reddit only supports asshole drivers from what ive seen here.

8

u/Eveready116 Apr 02 '23

Right. Which is what sane people do when they give a shit about not being the root cause of an accident that kills someone or their family and having to live with the legal consequences and life lifelong guilt and shame.

Idiots need to be shown what mangled car corpses look like during driver’s education.

6

u/cali_raw_illz Apr 02 '23

4

u/Transient_Inflator Apr 03 '23

6

u/Elowan66 Apr 02 '23

8

u/ghettoccult_nerd Apr 02 '23

half of these dash cam videos are people with dash cams creating situations to dash cam.

208

u/resttheweight Apr 01 '23 Silver

Are you just hoping everyone ignores the fact you floored it to try blocking him? Would have all been much less of a dangerous situation if you didn’t fixate on trying to prevent him from merging in front of you.

44

u/altimax98 Apr 02 '23

OP has another deleted post where they did the same thing

Some people wonder why they are magnets for bad drivers, maybe it’s just that they are the problem too

6

u/Trevski Apr 02 '23

People around here have even confused "tips for defensive driving" with "victim blaming". Its ridiculous.

→ More replies (2)

44

u/Delta_V09 Apr 02 '23

Would it be an idiots in cars post if the dashcam wasn't also an idiot who either makes the situation worse or fails to take even basic measures to avoid an accident?

70

u/Sythasu Apr 02 '23

Right? OP made the situation way more dangerous by insisting on being in front themselves. If you had continued at the same speed you were driving before they tried to get over, this is a non event.

14

u/eata22 Apr 02 '23

Ya videos like this are the reason that I can’t wait for actually functional self driving cars.

Then we will need to adopt the Japanese program of taxing the absolute shit out of old cars so people just get the new ones.

Both of these drivers are a danger on the road. Op was fine until they decided to be a dickhead and endanger everyone else on the road instead of just backing off. The other guy is a moron for not just merging behind op/ taking the next exit to make it back. There is always another exit up the road.

→ More replies (1)

-22

u/afa78 Apr 02 '23

How was he supposed to know they wanted to merge? That idiot didn't even have their blinker on!

14

u/resttheweight Apr 02 '23

With the fact that the signal is on at the end (even if it’s late), I give some benefit of the doubt that the other person could have had their signal on earlier. I find it entirely plausible they had it on while trying to gauge if they should merge in front or behind OP, and maybe they decided to try to go behind OP, but a car behind OP closed the gap. So they went to pass OP, and when OP saw, they sped up to block again.

Regardless, it makes zero sense for OP to speed up while they are literally exiting, so I give no benefit of the doubt that the turn signal mattered one bit and think they would have blocked them regardless. Nor do I have any doubts that OP knew they wanted over in their lane, with or without a signal. OP is free to include sound on the clip to disprove that they sped up to block someone in a section of road where rationality dictates that they are actually required to do the opposite.

didn't even have their blinker on!

Are you as dumb as you appear to be or are you pretending?

10

u/afa78 Apr 02 '23

Not as stupid as you who didn't notice the front of the car, the right front blinker not on at all, and they still go straight in their lane. It isn't until their lane breaks away that they decide to turn it on and merge over where they clearly shouldn't. Now tell me you're not really that stupid to not have noticed that?

19

u/Mediocre_Airport_576 Apr 02 '23

How about the idiot who upon seeing a car that is going to pass him and merge decides that is the right time to accelerate hard. OP is no better than the merging car. Definitely the kind of person to tailgate someone just so another car can’t do a safe lane change.

160

u/Tabeyloccs Apr 02 '23

Took the sound away so we couldn’t hear your RPMs skyrocket as you attempted to stop him from passing lol

30

u/Old-Improvement-2563 Apr 02 '23

You can see the white lines to the right of op start passing by faster so you know they sped up.

39

u/jeepjoopbeepboop Apr 02 '23

they sped up hella quick actually

38

u/Arquit3d Apr 02 '23

Maybe OP had 5 cars tailgating him and there was no space to merge on the back. That doesn't justify merging the way he did it but the video doesn't tell the full story. Also, the "idiot" could have merged safely if OP wouldn't have accelerated last minute.

-17

u/afa78 Apr 02 '23

The burden of 'doing it safely' is on the vehicle merging, not the one already in the lane.

21

u/TheOkComputerGuy Apr 02 '23

The burden of arriving at your destination safely is on everyone on the road. That’s went they teach you common rules. OP is outpacing cars in both the right and left lanes so he’s already going 10-15 over to make a clean pass if they are all going the speed limit.

He’s an ass.

8

u/Kwintty7 Apr 02 '23

If idiot A merging had hit the barrier, then idiot B speeding up would have hit him. But I'm sure the satisfaction of knowing that the burden of safety wasn't on them would have comforted idiot B during the following weeks in hospital.

51

u/32_Dollar_Burrito Apr 02 '23

The burden of safety is on EVERY DRIVER. Even if you have the right of way, being safe is more important than being right

→ More replies (5)

15

u/Strostkovy Apr 02 '23

You cannot intentionally block someone from merging

24

u/LukeLarsnefi Apr 02 '23

Speaking generally there is usually also a requirement that other drivers maintain their speed, don’t try to block a merge, and otherwise behave reasonably to avoid accidents.

17

u/Not_RAMBO_Its_RAMO Apr 02 '23

But the vehicle trying to merge attempted to do it safely; the cammer was the one who took the situation from safe to unsafe.

10

u/[deleted] Apr 02 '23

there was no safe attempt made

8

u/afa78 Apr 02 '23

Safely? Without even using their blinker and almost slamming into the divider?

23

u/CatradoraSheRa Apr 02 '23

OP floored it to block the van from getting over, OP gained like 15mph speed as the van tried to pass them, you can tell by watching the cars on the left especially the white SUV on the far upper right

OP admits to it here: https://www.reddit.com/r/IdiotsInCars/comments/128x8ql/comment/jem2axd/?utm_source=reddit&utm_medium=web2x&context=3

OP floored it, watch the white SUV in the far upper left, it's driving away from OP, but by the end OP is going faster than them, because OP tried their best to block the van from passing them

Yes indeed i did, because they could have easily merged behind me safely and with more than one and a half seconds from the barrier.

4

u/Arquit3d Apr 02 '23

Blinker is on for as long as it gets into the frame. Time to back up and admit that was not a good argument. Manouver should have been aborted, but for me, OP is the idiot for speeding up. He wanted to win this one!

6

u/afa78 Apr 02 '23

Did anyone not notice the front blinker NOT being on at all till after their lane broke away??? Does anyone here realize our vehicles have blinkers in front too?

3

u/Not_RAMBO_Its_RAMO Apr 02 '23 edited Apr 02 '23

I already asked you if you were dumb enough to claim that they didn't have their blinker on, thank you for confirming that the answer is "yes." The car attempting to merge wouldn't have been anywhere near the divider if the cammer didn't attempt to block them. They would have safely passed and merged.

If you are the owner of a vehicle and/or a valid driver's license, please get rid of it.

EDIT: The person I replied to showed me that the car attempting to merge didn't actually flip on their indicator until they were already past the cammer.

6

u/gman584 Apr 02 '23

OP accelerated, don't believe his bs, start of the vid he was barely passing the truck on the right, then once the SUV came in he started to speed and suddenly passed the truck AND the sedan. He caused this by going slow in the passing lane and speeding up to block the poor guy who didn't wanna get stuck behind the person going speed limit in the left lane

6

u/Check_Their_History Apr 02 '23

Well he probably didn't think you would be an ahole and speed up to not let him in to then post here for karma. You saw him coming, got mad, and hit the gas.

37

u/deez_nuts_77 Apr 02 '23

interesting choice to increase speed right before the road split as the guy was trying to pass you….

34

u/likeastonrr Apr 02 '23 edited Apr 02 '23

The driver(not sure if it’s OP) clearly speeds up to make it harder for them to merge tho. You can tell by the lines. They’re both idiots

109

u/philharlow Apr 01 '23

Looked to me like cammer sped up and made that way more dangerous than if they had just maintained their speed. I see two idiots

51

u/Educational-Fig-2330 Apr 02 '23

Yep cammer tried to make the other guy miss the exit or force him to merge behind. Typical nonsense with obligatory "I'm the victim, look at this idiot" afterwards. People just need to feel big sometimes, and I guess this does the trick for them.

15

u/StickyIgloo Apr 02 '23

How fast was cammer going initially and how fast was he going at the end?

29

u/tommmmmmy_ Apr 02 '23

70 mph to 88 mph

(assuming the white lines on the road are standard 10ft lines with 30ft spacing)

9

u/Nieshtze Apr 02 '23

How did you calculate this?

23

u/tommmmmmy_ Apr 02 '23

I went through the video frame by frame. Every lane divider dash he passes I took that time, then took the average time difference between those. I did this at the start of the video and then later as the car is passing/merging in front of him. Then (40 ft) / (time diff in seconds) * 0.68 = (miles per hour)

This could be an over/underestimate if the lane divider dashes aren't exact, but as long as they are a consistent length and spacing, it means he sped up 18 mph.

24

u/StickyIgloo Apr 02 '23

The speeds don't actually matter, its the fact that he sped up by 30% or whatever. Thats more than just natural speed variance.

17

u/tommmmmmy_ Apr 02 '23

OP also commented somewhere that he did indeed floor it

3

u/Nieshtze Apr 02 '23

Thanks! How did you get reddit to play this frame by frame?

6

u/tommmmmmy_ Apr 02 '23

I downloaded the video to get precise timestamps

I don't know if I would say "bigger idiot", but cammer definitely sped up considerably. If it was because you saw the person behind you coming fast and were doing it just to try and prevent them from overtaking you, then you aren't on such high ground here yourself.

Look at the lines on the right of your car, as the other car come into frame the timing shortens meaning you sped up. No requirement for you to let them in but you put yourself in danger by not driving defensively.

If it were me I would have let him in and continued as I was going.

JMHO, yours may differ but you should be ok with it as I am of yours.

Yep, OP was driving about the same speed as that black truck in the beginning of the video.

He floored it and flew past the truck in like 5 seconds lol

37

u/RedditUser31422354 Apr 01 '23

Hhhhhmmmm.... I wonder why OP has his dashcams speed display turned off.

Oh wait, this video explains why.

14

u/Sythasu Apr 02 '23 edited Apr 02 '23

Look at OPs comment history, sounds like he did the same thing to another driver a few weeks ago and caused an accident. Deleted the post after getting called out for it.

Edit: and on that one he had a speed graph

4

u/Educational-Fig-2330 Apr 02 '23

I have speed turned off in my dashcam, not because I expect to post to reddit and garner sympathy when I'm the actual asshole, but because I might need that in court or for insurance purposes, and I'm usually speeding. I preemptively plea da fif.

4

u/Strostkovy Apr 02 '23

Also because they can report inaccurate numbers. They often have a huge delay.

-12

u/Breadddick Apr 02 '23

Because it doesnt save speed to the video, not a fancy cam

11

u/Mediocre_Airport_576 Apr 02 '23

Don't need the speed displayed to see that you floored it to keep them from passing.

4

u/fishurmahn Apr 02 '23

“Ok to be behind someone” applies to OP too. Why risk being part of a stupid maneuver when you can slow down or move over a lane? Both drivers were idiots here

2

u/joahw Apr 03 '23

Massholes gonna masshole

3

u/veggietl Apr 02 '23

Why couldn’t you take your foot off the gas and let the idiot pass

5

u/Lockhara Apr 02 '23

Yeah OP is an idiot for speeding up and trying to block the other car from merging in front of them. They made this situation much worse than it had to be.

4

u/n0sacrality Apr 02 '23

Why did you speed up to prevent them from merging

4

u/Mario_Specialist Apr 02 '23

Maybe slow down and lightly tap the brakes to let the driver in? The situation was already dangerous, and you (OP) did nothing to make it better.

74

u/vulcansheart Apr 01 '23

I like how at the beginning of the video you were traveling about the same speed as traffic, then continually sped up to prevent the other car from passing you.

So, 90% of the content on this sub?

2

u/judasmaiden15 Apr 02 '23

I posted a video where someone crossed solid double yellow lines and almost hit me, I was the jerk somehow

21

u/NickTM-AZ Apr 01 '23

We don't see the part where the car on the left was already going faster and thinking ok I'll go in front because he's going slower then he speeds up and they have to speed up more and make a sudden move because they panicked.

→ More replies (8)

26

u/Theons Apr 02 '23

You should just let him pass you instead of speeding up. All you did was make it more dangerous

→ More replies (1)

30

u/IFuckingHateAllergy Apr 01 '23

I have full control of my speed and decided to speed up but it's your fault for trying to merge in front of me. -OP probably.

0

u/sirCATusWompus Apr 02 '23

Pretty obvious that there was no signal till they decided to merge across the paint.

0

u/afa78 Apr 02 '23

You understand that people that get butthurt here are the same ones that do this shit, dangerously cutting off other drivers then crying about it online. 🤣. Then they think downvoting you is some form of revenge.

17

u/steady_as_a_rock Apr 01 '23

Watching this I was like it's okay, it's okay. Then it was like damn that was close.

61

u/CatradoraSheRa Apr 01 '23

OP floored it, watch the white SUV in the far upper left, it's driving away from OP, but by the end OP is going faster than them, because OP tried their best to block the van from passing them

10

u/pokerScrub4eva Apr 02 '23

OP is definitely the biggest idiot here and is probably wondering why there are so many idiots around him as he speeds up and slows down to create dangerous situations because it would just be easier if everyone stayed behind him.

37

u/NickTM-AZ Apr 01 '23

You're being downvoted but you are right. The black Silverado makes this apparent too.

16

u/opengorall1977 Apr 02 '23

A good reminder to us all to try to stay cool out there! I see it too. Plus another thing. Notice how OP is positioned in his lane at the beginning compared to the end of the clip. Passing right before the exit isn't the smartest move... But reacting to it like this is what made it really dangerous in my opinion. Be cool when you drive! Someone wants you to come home!

16

u/Deltoro19 Apr 02 '23

This should be renamed to "I almost murder somebody trying to merge by accelerating to cut them off"

Fuck you

5

u/32_Dollar_Burrito Apr 02 '23

Poor defensive driving by OP here. Just let the asshole in and move on with your life. Driving aggressively just made the situation more dangerous than it needed to be

3

u/Apprehensive_Bed3362 Apr 02 '23

I have a friend who’s like this and I don’t understand why 👀👀 she assumes everyone on the road is in a negative serious competition with her tryna spite her and her attitude while driving is “I’ll show them” as if she’s enacting revenge.. when she was in the car with me, I was going the speed limit and she got mad, bcc I wasn’t speeding like how she does , in the car she’s just, no patience , she’ll swerve In between cars as if she’s in a motorcycle.

3

u/Evane317 Apr 02 '23

This is 3 South towards 495 & Lowell connector interchange. Speed limit is 55 but 70 was the norm there.

Dude’s a certified Masshole but OP can use a bit of defensive driving there.

3

u/habitual_wanderer Apr 02 '23

I'm not with OP in this case. The driver is an idiot so I would have slowed down rather than indirectly cause the impatient driver to get into an accident anywhere near me!

3

u/ResponsibleSeaweed66 Apr 02 '23

Did you speed up as he tried to pass, making it harder for them?

3

u/bbrack2020 Apr 02 '23

No one is gonna talk about the driver who filmed this clearly speeding up to try and stop the other person from getting in front of their car? Maybe if you just kept the same speed and let the car merge instead of trying to stop them from getting in front of you while you’re clearly going slower there wouldn’t have been a close call in the first place. You’re just as reckless as the person who cut in front of you

3

u/JSLAK Apr 02 '23

Maybe don't speed up to make the situation worse? Your ego is going to get someone else killed.

3

u/organic Apr 02 '23

If he didn't make it, you were a goner too. It's not a fuckin' race.

8

u/-Here-There- Apr 02 '23

OP acting innocent like he didn’t escalate it to that point ha ha. That’s a 50/50 split in assholery

2

u/BuDu1013 Apr 02 '23

Typical Mass hole

2

u/Shagyam Apr 02 '23

Drivers can never be behind someone, they have to be Infront.

2

u/C2AYM4Y Apr 02 '23

Damn what a dummy… but also dash cam driver instantly would have slowed down once i saw him do some risky shit. It was very quick but there was no cautionary slow down.

2

u/hypespud Apr 02 '23

As the driver here with the camera, if you notice this early, you should for your own safety and even to protect the idiot car, slow down to avoid them, you don't want to keep the same pace/speed and put yourself at risk

He could have killed himself, but also killed you if he impacted that barrier and then hit you right after

I would strongly consider slowing down and letting the idiot merge, that is the core of defensive driving, and OP to be fair you did not do defensive driving here

Obviously the other guy is more in the wrong, but you want to protect yourself here more than anything

2

u/Spiritual_Paper4930 Apr 02 '23

Did you cut him off or something ?

2

u/PickleJarss Apr 05 '23

Almost kills himself? What? How?

→ More replies (2)

3

u/MrSmallStuff Apr 02 '23

I wasn’t there but I can guarantee they slowed down once they were in front.

5

u/TheSleepyAquarius Apr 01 '23

Can someone give OP an award for cutting the video right where it needed to end!!!

5

u/Complex_Arrival7968 Apr 01 '23

Not only did he almost kill himself, he almost took you with him.

2

u/LuckyJynX Apr 02 '23

the idiot probably would've taken you as well.

2

u/Someguygfys Apr 02 '23

Fuckin massholes!

1

u/_jump_yossarian Apr 01 '23

Heading back from tax free Nashua and a trunk full of CostCo chickens. I hate that stretch.

2

u/Eat_Carbs_OD Apr 02 '23

Drivers can NEVER merge behind.. it MUST be ahead.. safety be damned.

3

u/Skraxor Apr 02 '23

This is common masshole driving. Always want to be first for no reason

1

u/HugeBoysenberry2896 Apr 02 '23

Idiot almost causes major accident by refusing to allow idiot merger into the lane at the last minute.

0

u/Calamero Apr 02 '23

Yeah for your own safety stop playing these games… yes the first driver was an extreme idiot for merging like that. But the other driver was just as risky by not compensating for the first idiot….

-1

u/threadsoffate2021 Apr 02 '23

Two idiots. The merging car, and the cameraman who sped up to to and block the merge.

1

u/Brad____H Apr 02 '23

I bet there were no cars behind you too. There's alot of people like that in toronto

1

u/Swordfish-Signal Apr 02 '23

Good old 495. My fiancé refers to it as “the death race.”

1

u/FlexFlexico Apr 02 '23

An idiot never misses their exit, dead or alive.

1

u/Icy-Letterhead-2837 Apr 02 '23

I think to myself, I miss home.

Someone shows home.

Fuckin' nope!

1

u/jaminator45 Apr 02 '23

It’s easier to die than use the brake pedal.

1

u/whiteiversonyeet Apr 02 '23

sad to see it is a highlander

1

u/mooney0501 Apr 02 '23

Tell me you are driving to slow without telling me you are driving to slow.

1

u/ufwalex Apr 02 '23

massholes for the win

1

u/commentstalker84 Apr 02 '23

Welcome to Lowell

1

u/Chiken_Tendies1-11 Apr 02 '23

He HAS to be in front of you, duh

0

u/WasteFuel9442 Apr 02 '23

Okay, yes he's a dumbass and in the wrong here, but you also almost let him kill himself you know? Like sometimes when you're driving, there's these kinds of people right, we all know those shit lane swerving, massively speeding, won't let you over pieces of shit driving. So why not, just let them do that, and stay away from them, so they can crash into someone or something else. He's intent on merging in front of me, fine, whatever, I'll let my foot off the gas and he'll get ahead, I'm exiting anyway.

0

u/ImpressiveWorth4178 Apr 01 '23

He should have gone SMACL into the guardrail.

0

u/HWGA_Exandria Apr 02 '23

That Masshole shouldn't be allowed on the road.

0

u/spleef35 Apr 02 '23

Yep, certified idiot right there.

-3

u/Noyaiba Apr 02 '23

I woulda sped up 😂

1

u/Odd_Mine7269 Apr 02 '23

The way you can even tell he almost lost control of his car
