If your motorized vehicle is not street legal, do the laws of the street not apply to you???

It's okay, the rider has a helmet on. That will protect from an oncoming car that has the right of way.

They should issue that man a license just so they can take it away.

Honestly there's one wheels now that push 40+ mph and those mfers atleast try to follow rules of the road. Probably because they're at the greatest disadvantage possible and can't stop on a dime. Still stupid as f for this dude to act like he's an entitled bicyclist
6
u/Past-Cost Nov 27 '22
I ride and build mini bikes and get annoyed by people who do this sort of thing. They make all of us look like stupid idiots.
4
u/D3RF3LL Nov 27 '22
I don't want anyone to get hurt but I see people do stuff like that and think if anyone gets hit, it should be them.

u/J7O3R7D2A5N7 Nov 27 '22
What are you the motorcycle police
3
u/soyboy69_420 Nov 27 '22
Because it's going to dent my car when I run him over when he can't be fucked to wait at a stoplight for 3 seconds

That's not a street legal vehicle and isn't legally required to follow the street laws. This is treated more like a bicycle.
They're an idiot either way for riding it like this.
57
u/cmelt2003 Nov 27 '22
Bicycles need to follow the laws of the road too…
-65
u/spddemonvr4 Nov 27 '22
For the most part they don't. They don't have follow red lights, signal for turns etc...
34
u/zeromadcowz Nov 27 '22
Where? Everywhere I’ve lived they have to follow all traffic laws, even if not enforced.
24
u/Sergeant-Pepper- Nov 27 '22
They absolutely have to but it’s rarely enforced. A bicycle running a red light just looks like a pedestrian jay walking but a cop having a bad day would give them the same ticket someone in a car would get.
15
u/cmelt2003 Nov 27 '22
In Michigan they absolutely do.
-15
u/workaccount1338 Nov 27 '22
they never do tho lol. downtown ann arbor local chiming in—those spandex wearing dorks ignore the rules of the road and cry when they get run over.
18
u/judahrosenthal Nov 27 '22
Just because they don’t doesn’t make it legal. This entire sub is devoted to that.

u/judahrosenthal Nov 27 '22
California seems to try to pass a law every year so cyclists can roll through stop signs. It fails.
1
u/Lustle13 Nov 27 '22
Literally none of this is true lol.
Bicycles, when on the road, absolutely follow the same laws. They are a vehicle, they are using the road, they have to follow the rules lol.
Let me guess, you're a cyclist?
-1
u/spddemonvr4 Nov 27 '22
Was years ago before bike lanes became a thing but even now, I've never seen one pulled over or ever ticketed for violation.
0
u/Lustle13 Nov 27 '22
Bike lanes don't matter lol. Neither does being ticketed. A vehicle on the road, including bikes, have to follow the rule of the road.
Does every single person you see speeding, running stop signs, changing lanes without signaling, etc, get a ticket? No. So that makes it ok to you?
Bikes have to follow the rules of the road. Period.
Read that drivers handbook, maybe you'll learn to drive one day and can get off the bike.

u/spddemonvr4 Nov 27 '22
Read that drivers handbook, maybe you'll learn to drive one day and can get off the bike.
I've probably driven more miles than you. I know the rules of the road asshat.
But to remind you, motor vehicles under certain CCs and bikes don't have to follow all the same rules.
0
u/Lustle13 Nov 27 '22
I guarantee you haven't. I've driven at levels you've probably only seen on TV.
I mean, you directly said bikes don't have to follow the road rules for red lights, signals for turns, etc. And that is, in every way, not true. So no, you do not know the rules of the road, dipshit.
But to remind you, bikes absolutely have to follow road rules.
Read that learners handbook, you'll pass that test one day!

u/spddemonvr4 Nov 28 '22
I guarantee you haven't. I've driven at levels you've probably only seen on TV.
Are you even old enough to drive? I mean, I'm guessing the 13 in your name is your age. And trucker sims don't count.
But to remind you, bikes absolutely have to follow road rules
Glad to know youre arrogant enough to assume you know every driving rule out there...
0
u/Lustle13 Nov 28 '22
So the 4 in your name is your age? lol. Look at that, shit logic from you, what a surprise.
Hey, remember when you said "They don't have follow red lights, signal for turns etc..." And literally everyone said you were wrong?
I remember lol.

Normally I believe people that roll coal are assholes, but one could earn back some karma by doing it to this guy...

u/blckdiamond23 Nov 27 '22
I fucking hate this. It’s getting more and more common where I live. Mostly people who can’t keep a job. Yet I get harassed for riding a fucking bicycle without lights at night (just an excuse to stop and search me)
1
u/hatchetrachet Nov 30 '22
Get some lights big dog. They're 20 at Walmart and they actually last a good while. Used them on my mini bike for a while lmao
1
u/StevenTN615 Nov 27 '22
This reminds me of the people that drive their kids to school in a golf cart. I always think is it worth it to risk having an accident in something with zero protection.

Still can’t believe they allow mini bikes on the road, back in the day that’s grounds for the cops confiscating your fun.

Saw a homeless guy on a similar contraption but it was a 3 wheeler. He tried to pop over a curb from the street and ended up rolling the thing over and spilling into my lane. This was on Thanksgiving day so probably no cops around at all. Luckily I'd given him lots of space and the lane next to me was open so i just scooted over while he tried to collect himself lol
I gotta get a dash cam

u/badDuckThrowPillow Nov 27 '22
Wow that’s a new level of idiot. With that behavior I’m sure it’ll be corrected sooner rather than later. By an SUV.

When your top speed is 25mph you need to make progress wherever possible
1
u/colemanwasteland88 Nov 27 '22
With my cousins we collectively own 4 and all go over 35mph

u/Sirbrewalot666 Nov 28 '22
I would love to get my hands on a old frame for one. Almost none existent in the uk

u/midtownreader Nov 27 '22
We have these fuckers also in New York City. I live in Midtown, NYC and they NEVER stop for stoplights or obey signals. Usually, the drivers are the lowest common denominator from the Bronx
2
u/ShiftyAsylum Nov 27 '22
Minibike rider here - I typically keep mine away from the roads (as they're not legal), but lots of guys in the community ride them anyway, and they're nearly ALL irresponsible. If cops just left them alone to do it though, I almost wonder if folks would be less apt to run red lights, and do stupid shit.

come on, this is how we differentiate ourselves from the dickhead dirt bike and quad riders. when i ride on the road, i obey pretty much every law of the road. including stop signs, street lights etc.

Soon, our streets will look like the chaos they have in Southeast Asian cities.
-2
u/RebelMountainman Nov 27 '22
It is not even legal to ride on the street, but you just decided to film him instead reporting him, right? So what good are you? So, filming this crap for Reddit is more important to you than reporting him and possibly preventing an accident?

Reminds me of a guy I worked with for a short amount of time
He rode a low power scooter like this because (according to him I didn't fact check this) if your engine is below a certain size it doesn't need to be registered nor do you have to have a license.
His logic was if they pull him over, "he has no license or registration they can look at to identify him to actually give him a valid ticket"
He got fired sometime later, but was a weird guy
