I've read that Texas teenagers take them all the time and put them in their cars, then the cops that pull them over confiscate them. Then they use them as evidence markers at crime scenes!

They are corporate police so that’s on the mark

323

u/Pax_flash The Mandalorian Oct 06 '22

Also why does their ship look so much like a Republic Gunship?

470

u/w1987g Oct 06 '22

I took it that it's the commercial/next gen model. Doesn't need to fly into a battlefield or carry an AT-RT, so it's smaller and mildly armed

269

u/Garth-Vader Oct 06 '22

Yeah, the Pre-Mor Authority is not designed to be fighting in a warzone. They're designed for petty crime and occasional police brutality.

137

u/Pupulauls9000 Oct 06 '22

Occasional? That’s all we’ve seen them do.

90

u/martin4reddit Oct 06 '22

Hey man, tackling petty crime would be actual work and that would be asking too much of the idiots that can’t cut imperial service.

40

u/Variatas Oct 06 '22

We saw some bureaucratic number fudging too, the acting head just wanted to do a brutality instead.

Probably an iteration on it. Just like Imperial Star Destroyers and Venator class cruisers were both products of Kuat Drive Yards.

31

u/thebeef24 Oct 06 '22

We've seen other variations of it before, including a police/patrol version. Makes sense, it seems to be a very successful and adaptable airframe that was produced in staggering numbers.

5

u/InnocentTailor Oct 07 '22

Real world example: the Huey helicopter. Though famous for its military use in Vietnam, the frame was utilized for civilian variants.

Companies, nations and armies bootlegging other people’s weapons, vehicles and concepts is an art as old as time.

Hell most modern Semi-Auto Rifles are still taking base design queues from the STG-44 and early AK-47 prototypes.

13

u/LeggoMyGallego Oct 06 '22

And why did they jump to hyperspace long enough at least for Syril to give his awkward speech all while traveling within the same system?

19

u/nerfherder813 Oct 06 '22

Because it wasn’t the same system? The corp security office was on Morlana One (where the brothel was) and they were going to Ferrix to find Cassian

25

u/ostermei Oct 06 '22

Ferrix is in the Morlani system.

16

u/nerfherder813 Oct 06 '22

I stand corrected then, although it doesn’t make sense that they would put those planets in the same system when they mentioned there’s a whole Free Trade Sector. I assumed they were different systems in that sector ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Trevor Morgan (EastEnders)

Trevor Morgan is a fictional character from the BBC soap opera EastEnders, played by Alex Ferns. He first made a one-episode stint on 21 December 2000 before reappearing as a regular cast member and gradually the show's main antagonist from 17 April 2001 to his last appearance on 1 November 2002. The character was introduced as the estranged husband of Little Mo Slater (Kacey Ainsworth), whom he had domestically abused and mistreated throughout most of his duration on the series.

Man I wish I could still watch Star Wars with my family, something we used to do all the time.

But now apparently Disney is “too woke” for my trumptard parents that we can’t even enjoy something we used to love together. Sad times

75

u/Pax_flash The Mandalorian Oct 06 '22

Noooooo really? Ugh that sucks man…

45

Really sucks, the mandalorian was something that brought us back into the Star Wars universe together and now he doesn’t even care about watching the next season

32

u/BigZiggy Oct 06 '22

Im not a counselor, but you should tell your parents how you really feel and how much it means to you. If your parents know, they should be able to put their politics aside enough to enjoy some time with family.

Love pretty much everything else about the show, but these guys look like the Disney World cast members buckling seatbelts at Star Tours… not actual Star Wars characters.

Maybe they’re supposed to look like they’re just dinky corporate rent-a-cops with delusions of imperial grandeur, but it just makes the scenes where they’re killing and dying over one guy’s power trip weird and uncomfortable.

If Disney is going to buy everything, let them buy a food chain, and just create "Imperial Burger." Normal fast food chain, make everything inside and out look like Star Wars. But like, instead of an ultra immersive experience like you'd get at Disney World, it's like the barely-immersive experience you get at one of those tourist destination diners stylized like a diner from the 50's where the staff sings and dances to a song every hour or so.

I don't care if the employee looks and sounds like a high school kid, I just want him to be paid well enough to call my order an Imperial Combination Meal #7 while wearing a hat and polo with Imperial Insignia on it.
