After ~2 years I've finally leveled a badge to max of a game with nothing on the market and the game's storepage was removed. I leveled this through sheer fkin will! Meta

How and you still have extra. Trading?

Don't be silly, there's no one else who still has cards.
Gems, about 16000 or so. I've kept breaking down emoticons and backgrounds and other crappy items from other game's rewards and badge progress rewards.
It took me a really long time especially since I can do only one booster pack per game per day and I didn't remember to do one every day.
I have extras because I don'talwaysrarely ever get what I need/want from a booster pack.5

Congrat. What will you do with the extras?

idk, 20gems is too little to burn, probably keep, sell them for 100$ a pop in 10 years :)))

Strike Vector EX is gone? Huh. Maybe I'll play it now
Weird that it is gone, it had fairly decent reviews

Reviews isnt the sole reason a game may end up removed.
Publishers can shut it down.
Publisher might have closed down and as a result the games get delisted.Licenses(vehicles, characters, music, etc...) can expire meaning the game can no longer legally be sold.
Im sure there are other reasons also a highly rated game may be removed.

It was self published, according to the store. The page is still there it just says it has been requested to be removed from sale. But yeah, I suppose a lot could go sideways.

That's how it works now. Store page remains instead of just redirecting to the front page, you won't be able to find it other than by the direct link tho. I'd say it's much better than just attempting to erase any trace of the game.

It was a fantastic game; idk why. Probably a combo of being underappreciated and devs no longer wanting to support the game.

I bought it a while back because it looked pretty cool. I think I only played 30 minutes or so. But I'm pushing 700 games on Steam, I forget about them a lot so I just forgot to go back. Kinda sad.

It's a very short game, banking more on MP replayability. Kinda sad cause the gameplay was absolutely ace and the story, as short as it was, was p good as well.

I've never understood why someone would want the steam cards. Can you explain?
I used to just sell them all, but then steam started requiring approval in the authenticator for every posting, so i just stopped; not worth the effort.

There have been hacks that stole inventory and/or balance of accounts, ever since they forced the 2 tier auth. Big n popular platform gets you a lot of unwanted attention.
It's a collector/completion thing. It also gives exp that goes towards your account "level". It looks pretty and I guess my e-penis is bigger than yours.

No, i know why they switched to the authenticator. It's just too big of a barrier for me now because I really dont care. I was getting maybe 10 cents off a purchase, which isnt nothing, but it wasnt worth the effort.
Okay I guess that "makes sense" in the same way photoshopped clothes make sense. I wouldnt spend money on it. I suppose it doesnt seem like a lot of money could go into a given set, so whatever floats your digital boat (which better not be that e-penis).

I'm not an avid cards collector, but I got some badges for games I love.
Cards and badges are electronic merch items. Assembling the badge is something like hanging up the poster with your favorite music band on the wall in your room. Making a symbolic action "I like it, I'm in it"3
u/beyondimaginable Nov 04 '21
They changed it back then so you don't have to verificate low cost items.

I don't understand how you do this. I thought that no matter how much you played, you only got like 4 cards.

Half the total number of cards for the game, rounded up for odd numbers. But you can also do stuff like craft boosters with gems.

u/kryvian Nov 03 '21
I crafted boosters with gems; and you get half of the cards; for one level. the badge has 5 levels. It was a lot of boosters.

Please tell me you used trading groups and bots for that, instead of spending absurd and ungodly amounts more of cash by crafting and unboxing the booster packs yourself...
PS: BTW if that game is rare to own and thus rare to be able to craft the booster packs, you can probably craft those packs and sell them for +50 gems than craft price easily on said groups. Maybe even more if it's really rare, as people line up for it. And whoever is going for Foil badge on it will be your client for ages.
