You need to re-read what I wrote and leave your anger at the door. They WANT us to fight amongst ourselves. They are counting on it, because that ensures they won't be held accountable. Stop shaming customers and start shaming corporations. How quickly would tipping culture change if masses of people walked off the job and masses of people refused to eat out during the strike? There's more of us then there are of them.
You seem to think that not tipping will change things, that couldn’t be further from the truth. Short-changing wait staff isn’t “organizing against the ruling class”.
You started this fight, this post was for waitstaff to vent about short-tips, you’re the one telling them that they are wrong for believing they deserve a living wage.
Where, in any of my posts, did I claim that not tipping was the answer to change? Shaming people who can't or won't tip is definitely not the answer to change. Fighting for living wages IS. Venting is great, change is better.
I would suggest they start by educating themselves about the power of labour unions, on the job walkoffs, and general calls to action by strike leaders. Belonging to this reddit sub is a great start in the right direction.
Belonging to this sub won’t do much, we can’t even name companies without violating Reddit policy.
It’s literally just a platform for people to learn the basics, and that doesn’t happen when people argue in circles about what is and isn’t okay to complain about when you can’t afford to survive.
You're right - it isn't OK. None of this is OK. I hope you see positive changes in your lifetime. I would especially encourage everyone reading this sub to continue reading, organizing, and talking to other people. Change spreads when people share new ideas. So many people from other countries have done just that on this thread. Some people are just beginning to see that wage theft is a thing, and it isn't the norm across the world.
