Until things change in the USA, this is the way it is. And people are well aware that wait staff make $2/hr plus tips. So if someone can’t afford to tip - they should get takeout or not patronize restaurants at all. They knowingly arrived to the restaurant and stiffed
Or.....or.....you could work together to facilitate the changes needed to stop this nonsense once and for all? I have no idea why this hasn't happened yet, but I hope it will in the future. "Let's keep paying their wages until it changes" does not equal anything changing. Turning one poor person against another poor person does not equal change. Action equals change. Walking off the job in droves would equal change. There's more power in organized striking and quitting than people realize.
