Not a better sub. The main mod is a gatekeeping incel who keeps deleting everything.

u/RCIntl Jan 27 '22
Yeah, I just went over there and was extremely uncomfortable. I didn't know that THIS sub was ORIGINALLY about REALLY not wanting to work, but when I commented, I got this long, WEIRD diatribe about someone else having to become a slave so I don't have to work and to take what I want. They totally missed the "I came in here (anti work) because of unfairness/racism/sexism in the workplace" part. It feels like a forced utopian where they tell women that men don't put us in menial sexual positions at work and tells minorities that no, no, no slavery is over! Now you should get over it! (And I actually did see a couple of posts alluding to that).
More reason to get totally off the site I think ...
26
u/silvertongued-liar Jan 27 '22
Totally agree, I think that's the essence of this sub. We are hardworking people who want to find passion in the work we do. However, we also want to be fairly compensated for that work and treated like human beings.

What the actual fuck was anyone on the mod team thinking here? Starting to believe more and more that this place was set up from the beginning to just fuck with people and troll.
/u/WinterTrabex just banned me for this comment. Shocker.

The mods couldn’t check their egos. They felt the power of having a popular sub in their control and did what every greedy capitalist does and took full advantage without any thought for the people of this community. The only ethical thing for them to do is step down.

Expo here-- 11 year redditor and 40 year old worker. Been doing other people's computer chores for a living for about 26 years now.
If you'd like to discuss the US Labor Movement in a non-fucky environment, please consider visiting /r/USLaborMovement
I started it after the Fox teainwreck, when the mods in /r/AntiWork started banning people for complaining about their lies and betrayal of the community.
Stop on by if you'd like!
I ain't never gonna ban nobody for saying things I don't like-- I wouldn't do that. That's bossman union busting shit.

They’re power tripping just like shitty bosses. Cut from the same cloth. Weak people let minimal “power” get to their heads. They aren’t the ones who should be speaking for the majority. The community is gaining popularity so the mods are attempting to become celebrities even though they have absolutely no authority to speak for this movement. The fox interviewee clearly had no fucking clue how to answer basic questions so being a mod definitely doesn’t mean they automatically have the ability to speak for everyone nor should they be the ones to speak. However, they shouldn’t have even done the interview in the first place. Being a mod means you’re a hall monitor so shut the fuck up and stop trying to abuse this community’s popularity to try to get attention. Also, I wouldn’t be surprised if Fox paid him to interview.

That little cunt is just the lowest form of garbage.
My "antiwork" stance atm isn't even anti work, it's anti lack-of-opportunity and anti sadistic recruitment. I'm in an unfortunate but hopefully temporary position where I'm basically begging for work and will cry tears of joy whenever someone hires me. But for the past 8 (yes, 8) interviews I've been at I've been turned down because of my age relative to my experience in the field out of college. I'm 30 and just graduated for fucks sake. I'm not 103. And then you have this little cunt who lives on daddy's dime and refused to work yet somehow thinks he's the king of the workers? Jesus fuck.

If we mimic the top down hierarchy used by companies and the government, this sub will fail. Mods should be chosen by the community, rigorously scrutinized, held accountable, have a limit on how long they are mods. We don’t need charismatic leaders that hold indefinite power and will ultimately use their position for personal gain. To put it in a platitude, we need to be the change we want to see in the world.

goddamnit dude, this post was meant to be a place for me to blow off some steam and make some stupid ass jokes. why you want to turn it into real conversation? ffs.
But yeah, you're not wrong - like all reddit subs, antiwork mimics the dictatorial design of your average corporation and that's obviously a huge fucking problem. Best solution I can come up with would be a system that uses democratic processes to decide who gets to be a mod as well as what specific actions those mods are allowed to take, explicitly labels mods as powerless caretakers temporarily entrusted to take action on behalf of the community, and regularly cycles mods out before they can entrench. Sadly, reddit doesn't really support that and is unlikely to change.
I've been saying for a long time that we need to build our own systems rather than depending on systems controlled by silicon valley billionaires, though I'll admit even that's a half-assed answer. The shitty thing is that even if you build the system, the people are still here. We've basically given control of the public square to social media companies, and we're going to suffer for that.
Meh. I prefer making jokes about cat shit.

that's a pretty funny comment.
the solution you came up with, though, is not one that can be bolted on, I don't think. the sub has to be started with those principles in mind. the problem is that /r/antiwork is 8 years old, and it's nearly impossible to "trust" whatever comes next that may promise to provide said solution.
if it's made by folks who are current mods, then they're part of the problem. if it's made by folks who are relatively new, then they might be part of the deep state or whatever.
the punk shit got too popular, which is funny

Ok, let's praise someone who openly admitted to sexually assaulting someone multiple times. Sounds like a great idea!
THIS POST should be removed.
I'm gonna have to just quit r/antiwork soon. The mods absolutely DO NOT deserve any praise whatsoever.
Also, fuck their feelings. Seriously???? This is about PERFORMANCE, it wasn't personal until we found out u/AbolishWork sexually assaulted someone multiple times, posted about it in writing on Facebook, and then had the GAUL to go on fucking FOX NEWS!?!?!
Way to take all of the steam out of our movement, all because this fucking jackass mod unilaterally decided to go on Fox fucking News and look like a goddamn FOOL. (Broke a cardinal rule of this subreddit, that's clearly posted in the sidebar, no less).
THANKS FOR NOTHING, Asshole.
Trans women can be horrible, low class, criminal pieces of shit too. She doesn't get a pass because she's a trans woman. She is a person who flippantly and intentionally went against the wishes of 1.6 million people, and got her fucking ass handed to her on Fox News as a result. Honestly, permaban her from Reddit as a whole.
THAT'S what equality looks like.
Get rid of all the mods in here, or Reddit should just shut down r/antiwork so we can start fresh.

So, Mods are banning anyone and everyone who disagrees with them. They claim to be anarchists, yet silence dissonance and quell criticism with a hammer of silence and crowd control. They wish to shift the narrative and make it out to be as if they are the leaders of a sub 1.7 million strong. No. Not to mention they introduced a new moderator who’s account was only 16 hours old at the time of instatement. Really now? That doesn’t seem fishy?
These people are crashing and burning the sub more than if they just said, “we’re sorry, we’ll do better and listen in the future,” but they knew they couldn’t get away with that with 3 more interviews on the way! You aren’t our leaders, Mods. But, I guess the beatings will continue until morale improves huh?
I strongly encourage looking for REFORM in another way. WORKers rights are important, and clearly this sub is not the pathway to the kind of REFORM we need in the world. Not demonstrated by how authoritarian the mods became the second they decided to turn their backs on the community and received backlash for it. Also, this.
These are sociopaths and assholes “leading,” this sub. They think they hold more power than they do. I strongly suggest other avenues on Reddit to have these discussions. You can find them. Strip them of their power by abandoning their sub. We don’t have to play by their rules.
This is about more than just an interview. This is about you, the mods, unironically acting like the corporate overlords we hate. Get off your high horses.

Meanwhile, we will go ahead with the interviews from a 21 year old little shit who has never worked a day in his life to represent you. Stay on r/antiwork please and dont attack doreen because doreen is immune to criticism; yet wants to teach critical thinking"
Isnt really a TL;DR but thats the sentiment we read. The fact most mods are still mods and havent detached from the Rapist Doreen and the new accounts; make you part of the problem.

he put someones hand on his junk while they were asleep,
the victim told him about the nightmares and he "explains" that he was half asleep and not in full control of his actions.
he masturbated next to this sleeping person so much that this victim created alarms so they would not fall asleep at the same times.
but he was desperate for intimacy, so he chose to shut of the alarms at various points.
this is his words -
"when i learned how much these harmed this person, I soon after went to therapy"
given his economic status he did help the victim with therapy costs.
he wrote this when he got accused of serial rape
since he posted this himself and wants to spread the message we shall help him.

“21 year old, long term unemployed” doesn’t = hard working
At least relative to the exploitation most people here experience on a daily basis. Being “long term unemployed” is another way of saying “I’ve never had a job” which is cool, unless you’re trying to speak for people who do have jobs and are experiencing some shit.
