Is this confirmed anywhere? They announced that they removed her with a unanimous vote, so that would mean that they are openly lying to us.

u/Cole_Basinger Jan 27 '22

Been seeing comments floating around that they fell for a packet sniffer link and the ip matches up to Doreen’s. I don’t have a link to the comments discussing it so you’ll have to do some digging to find it, it’s in one of the more recent threads from today.

15

Yea, because I would think they are trying to contain the shitstorm. This lie would be easily traceable, I doubt they have this little organizational strategy

As a trans person myself I would like to say it’s almost more transphobic to knowingly support a rapist and let them do interviews in places like Fox News without consequence because it then affirms the conservative belief that trans people are inherently predatory. It’s absolutely disgusting and is the LAST thing trans people need.

Luckily I haven't seen anyone be transmisogynistic to the perpetrator yet (as a trans rape survivor MYSELF i need y'all to stop misgendering this person regardless.) but bringing up their ADMITTED sexual assault allegations isn't inherently transphobic and I wish ppl would stop using that as a weapon to silence people who have an issue with a rapist for a mod.

46

u/Elaan21 Jan 27 '22

What I don't get is how people don't see that labeling these kinds of call outs as transphobic implies that the false narrative of "trans = predator" has merit.

You can critique trans people on issues unrelated to being trans without being transphobic unless you are tying the unrelated thing to their trans-ness.

It reminds me of when Kevin Spacey tried the "I'm gay" defense to the metoo allegations and I wanted to yeet him to the moon. This is exactly the opposite of what the queer community has been fighting for.

Idgaf if a mod is trans. I do give lots of fucks if a mod is an admitted rapist who seems to have no iota of remorse, regardless of their gender. Male, female, cis or trans, non-binary, doesn't matter. Rape is rape. And I'm not comfortable with a mod who views consent as optional.

3

u/sellout217 Jan 27 '22

It reminds me of when Kevin Spacey tried the "I'm gay" defense

Spacey's accuser had to plead the 5th multiple times using Spacey's criminal trial and the case was eventually dismissed because of it.

Seriously reminiscent of Spacey being caught with sexual abuse against minors and then admitting, “yeah, so I’m bi.” His orientation was NOT an issue, his actions were. Same concept here.

I dont understand this. Rapists don't deserve respect. I dont consent to seeing them as people anymore. So many of us are survivors. They lost their chance at any form of respect when they decided they didn't need consent. I dont consent to seeing this rapist as a human.

1

u/G_E_E_S_E Jan 27 '22

Do you use female pronouns to refer to Brock turner? Is it fair game to call R Kelly the N word?

It’s not respect for the rapist, it’s respect for all of the non-rapists that fall into the same group. What you’re doing is showing that your acceptance of that group is conditional, so it’s not true acceptance.

Call her a rapist. Call her a piece of shit. Call her an ingrown hair on the taint of r/antiwork. Call her whatever you want as long as you call her a woman. You can express that you don’t respect her without disrespecting all trans people.

i've seen more people misgendering than i've seen people actually gendering the person correctly.

but honestly, nobody's gonna give a shit since they care more that the sanctity of their "movement" (read: shitposting on reddit and not actually doing anything for the cause) has been besmirched by fox news than the actual sexual assault the mod in question may have done.

13

u/Elaan21 Jan 27 '22

i've seen more people misgendering than i've seen people actually gendering the person correctly.

Same. I was so confused for a bit because I kept reading about "that dude" and "Doreen" and and I was like "how many dumpster fire interviews happened?"

Then I figured out people were just misgendering her (some unintentionally, some very intentionally) and everyone was talking about the same thing.

You can be mad at someone and still use the correct pronouns, ffs. We don't collectively misgender cis people we're mad at so......

2

u/[deleted] Jan 27 '22

I think most of the misgendering came from people who just saw the clips of the interview. There is no way for anyone who doesn’t delve into that persons social media or comment history to possibly know they’re non binary.

-5

u/casual_explorer Jan 27 '22

Misgendering a cis person is no big deal. Let it be trans and they get feelings hurt. A woman that is raped by someone is automatically assumed to be man. The collective group has decided, men are bad until proven otherwise. This includes men that want to rape women under the disguise of being a trans.

18

u/shockjockeys disabled, pro-union, anti-fascist Jan 27 '22

Jesus christ people really show their true colors when an abuser happens to be trans...despite statistically trans people are more likely to be the target of assault than to perpetrate it.

4

u/DoobyDank Jan 27 '22

What the fuck are you even saying?

1

u/alvysinger0412 Jan 27 '22

That people's buried transphobia bubbles up when an individual does something terrible that's unrelated to their trans identity. That's what I took from it at least.

6

u/DoobyDank Jan 27 '22

No one is afraid of these people. They’re just being assholes, which being an asshole to a rapists seems like fair game to me.

1

u/sindrogas Jan 27 '22

That's not what transphobic means. Hydrophobic surfaces aren't afraid of water.

1

u/DoobyDank Jan 27 '22

Wtf? Do you know what the suffix phobia/phobic means?

0

u/sindrogas Jan 27 '22

Yes. Are you aware of what a hydrophobic surface is? Unless you think my pants are afraid of water...

It means you're repellent, which is true.

0

u/i-wear-hats Jan 27 '22

I mean are we really that surprised? Anytime you brought up that marginalized people won't have the same experience and are more likely to suffer abuse and discrimination (at work or otherwise) you'd have chuds yelling about idpol.

1

u/Erik_Withacee Jan 27 '22 edited Jan 27 '22

Most of that's because, well, Doreen is an unusual name and everything about her appearance would make you think she's a man. So people saw the video and just assumed she's male, I know I did. If her name had been 'Samantha' or a more common female name, I think fewer people would have misgendered.

It's hard to fault people for calling a balding neckbeard with a deep voice 'he'. It's no different from that one 5-year old sprinter with long hair who keeps getting called 'she' when the videos are posted, but it's actually a boy. Sure, it's objectively wrong, but more blame should be attributed to ignorance than malice.

Ultimately this person's gender and identity are irrelevant to the points being made, so it really doesn't matter. Nobody's complaining that we aren't using the proper honorifics when referring to prince Andrew being a shit person, so I don't see why it would matter in this case.

For the people complaining about 'being confused' by all the pronoun shenanigans; welcome to a world where people pick their pronouns. It's going to happen.

Using the appropriate pronoun is a respect thing isn't it? Like I don't want to support misgendering but if it pisses off a shitty person idgaf, no rapist deserves to be respected.

3

u/shockjockeys disabled, pro-union, anti-fascist Jan 27 '22

I seriously hate when people try to shield themselves behind accusations of transphobia. What a fucking pathetic shitstain of a human who would bastardize trans rights to deflect away from their own accountability. They should be removed for the sake of trans people who earnestly push for a better life

9

u/guitarfingers Jan 27 '22

Yeah my dad will do that. She's trans, and says everyone's rude to her for being trans. No, we live in Portland, firstly. Secondly, they're an impatient asshole. They're not rude because you're trans, they're rude because you're visually and audibly dissatisfied anytime something doesn't go perfectly. Don't have the item they're looking for? Throws a fit. Like some awareness please.

9

3

u/Removed-Anon Jan 27 '22

4

u/PDXBlueDogWizard Jan 27 '22

It's transphobic if your problem is that they're trans.

Focus on the rapist aspect.

3

u/BusinessPenguin Jan 27 '22

OP was saying this plays directly in to the conservative narrative about trans people, that is to say it’s just a bad look.

5

u/PDXBlueDogWizard Jan 27 '22

I get you, but "unlocking insults" when someone does something bad when those insults are about a benign thing, or in this case, when the thing you're shitting on is an already marginalized group or identity is not a better look.

Imagine being like, "oh, dude killed a guy? FUCKING N****R!"

2

Because its a pretty dumb thought. A name change would probably suffice for that goal. Becoming trans doesn't magically erase someone's record.

2

u/quaranbeers Jan 27 '22

This right here. If they wanted to cover shit up the first step would be not to write out long detailed posts about said shit.

-5

u/Material-Note9470 Jan 27 '22 edited Jan 27 '22

I don’t believe it is. Changing your name gives you nothing to hide behind, but changing your entire identity gender and hopping on a bandwagon gives you multiple things to hide behind. Bc its “transphobia” right?? I mean look how they’ve already tried to defend this person? They were trying to erase all evidence of the shit person they are. It’s pretty relevant here, and I’m sure it isn’t the first time nor will it be the last. I don’t have a problem with the LGBTQ community bc I’ve met several good hearted people, they’re free to live their lives as they see fit. The fact you think a simple name change would suffice is a pretty dumb thought though.

EDIT: y’all wanna defend the sick fucks?? Go for it this movement is fucking dead in the water. Ain’t shit gonna change it’s only gonna get worse especially now that everyone’s personal feelings are in it. I made a point and no one can swallow their “pride” and see the truth in my words. I see both side but y’all don’t want to, fine…hide behind your screens bc yalls fearless leader just got demolished on national tv and that’s what happens when you decide to come out to the real world, where no one actually cares about you or your problems. Lol y’all can barely change your lives good luck trying to change the country. I’m done here.

2

u/TheSpoonyCroy Jan 27 '22

That is your thought process? Funny. Like I'm not here to defend that person they most likely are a shitty person but coming to the conclusion that a non insignificant amount of people who are trans are simply that way because it means "they can erase their past and just use 'transphobia' as a cover to deflect accusations", is incredibly idiotic. There are countless ways of pulling that off.

u/shockjockeys disabled, pro-union, anti-fascist Jan 27 '22

8

u/Daedricbanana Jan 27 '22

I dont understand the implication, you saying that trans people maybe change their identity (id argue its embracing their identity but whatever) as a reaction to them being bad? Im sure this could be a genuine question but holy subtext this sounds like implying trans people have a choice in being trans and do it to escape the individual being bad instead of just embracing who they are.

Theres no link between being trans and what you say

3

u/shockjockeys disabled, pro-union, anti-fascist Jan 27 '22

I can't lie, these ban bait posts are hella entertaining. The sad part is that I don't think it's even trolling to say this, it's absolutely warranted. So, I 100 percent agree with you op

2

u/aa_tw Jan 27 '22

Lol same! I've been spending way more time on this sub reading this stuff!

Also agree; warranted.

4

u/Negative_Elo Jan 27 '22

why is it warranted? im pretty out of the loop but wasnt it just a mod making a fool of himself on fox and then the sub was shut down for a bit?

48

u/sirleithalot Jan 27 '22

There's a substantial amount more to this which I almost certainly am not qualified to explain in totality, but the main issue is this. The mods asked the subreddit if interviews should be done, and the public overwhelmingly voted NO. In spite of this, the mods did this interview AND at least 4 others (as confirmed in the response post which I believe is pinned on the subreddit) with the anarchist mod inserting themselves as a self chosen spokesperson. Add in the lack of apology, the brazen disregard for feedback which was actually pretty constructive but instead resulted in mass bans of people with no prior infractions, and you've got a big old pile of shit thanks to a mod team who's gone drunk with power thinking they are somehow the leaders of the 1.7 mil people here.

The privatizing of the subreddit really just blew the lid off of things, considering people were actually behaving pretty well all things considered. Streisand effect just made people say fuck it, and fuck them, and here we are now. I personally think it's all warranted with all of this in mind, and at the least it could have been partially avoided had the mods acted with even a bit of common sense.

6

u/quaranbeers Jan 27 '22

Pretty good summary though.

8

u/CHOLO_ORACLE Anarchist Without Adverbs Jan 27 '22

Link to the thread with the vote? People keep talking about it but there are never any links.

4

u/sirleithalot Jan 27 '22

The super frustrating thing is that I'm pretty sure the mods scrubbed any and all evidence of it ever happening. While I don't think it was an actual poll, I believe it was posted as a thread and a mass of people responded with comments saying to not do it. Again, since this all started, people have been getting banned and posts have been getting removed left and right so I wouldn't doubt this initial post was one of the casualties. I tried to find it myself to no joy.

https://www.reddit.com/r/SubredditDrama/comments/sdesxw/megathread_rantiwork_goes_private_after_fox_news/?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share

I've been looking at this post on subreddit drama for info, including a mod conversation about the interviews. I think it's locked now unfortunately, but at least it's something that the mods haven't been able to delete.

3

u/CHOLO_ORACLE Anarchist Without Adverbs Jan 27 '22

Even if the mods deleted it there are those sites that track what gets deleted on Reddit right? You’d think that would get posted like all this stuff about the head mod and their weird sexual history, but I’ve yet to see it

1

u/JuniorSeniorTrainee Jan 27 '22

In the FAQ thread, the new mod claimed the no such vote was ever held. I don't know if the truth is, but there's a lot of misinformation flying in both directions on this one .

What we do know, for sure, is that one mod took it upon themselves to speak for a community and failed hard. Then a second mod posted a lengthy damage recovery FAQ that also failed hard. Somewhere along the way a third mod showed up that was a brand new account, only banning people and removing comments, and then they were also abruptly removed about an hour ago .

Whatever is going on, I wouldn't expect to get a clear answer anytime soon. Way too many bad faith actors.

Oh I'm sure they've done a few police interviews relating to sexual assaults, maybe in their mind it's the same thing as an interview with Fox News...

I 100% agree!! Fuck the mods. Especially Doreen! What a fucking tool!

3

u/rankus17 Jan 27 '22

Honesty, after that fucking shit show it just makes want to work harder so I don’t end up like that. Fuck.

2

u/quaranbeers Jan 27 '22

I legit chortled at this one.

3

u/Thromkai Jan 27 '22

Looks like a message is coming soon - that dude with the sticky posted in their profile:

u/quaranbeers Jan 27 '22

You think if I take credit for that I can get my own interview on Fox?

3

u/fantomas_ Jan 27 '22

Don't fuck the mods, then when you're asleep the mods will use your hand to fuck themselves! 😉👌

4

u/PersonBehindAScreen Jan 27 '22

I hope they remember you, OP

1

u/CORNDOGS666 Jan 27 '22

Lol, so good

2

u/samisnotalemon420 Jan 27 '22

What happened

6

u/Accomplished-Bet-994 Jan 27 '22

Well, some mod did a big silly and single handedly killed antiwork in 3 minutes. An impressive accomplishment, if I may add.

PREACH

2

u/ThisIsRealyHappenin Jan 27 '22

I got banned in r/Russia for saying Russia shouldn’t attack Ukraine rather than them focusing on a picture of a fascist flag to meme on them. Like Americans are idiots for being against they’re ruskie fetal alcohol syndrome asses

2

u/Worldwonderer2021 Jan 27 '22

I hope they do so tiring

2

u/UmbraeDraconian Jan 27 '22

MODS SHOULD TREAT THEMSELVES NOW! 🌩️

2

u/[deleted] Jan 27 '22

I feel like this happens to major reddit communities quite a bit especially now last year r/mildlyinfuriating had a simular discussion and yes this stuff led to a lot of bans.

2

u/Reticentandconfused Jan 27 '22

But it was their chance for the big time! They’d never have to work again if they became famous! Just because he threw 1.5 million people under the bus, you can’t get mad! Why don’t you take your mind off the situation with some work. Good, old fashioned drudgery.

2

u/PublicSherbert2746 Jan 27 '22

That's no way to talk about your fearless leader

2

u/HuntPsychological673 Jan 27 '22

Wahoo it’s a ban party! We’re all invited! 🎉🥳🎈🎊🎁🍾👯‍♀️👯👯‍♂️🪅

2

u/MetalDetectorists Jan 27 '22

Yesterday I couldn't view this sub, and today everyone is calling for it to shut down. I don't live in the US and I missed all the drama!

Can someone fill me in? I actually quite like this sub, even though I don't post a lot and I feel it's taught me a lot, so I'm quite shocked to see people want it closed down

2

u/aJewfromBrooklyn Jan 27 '22

You mean Doreen Ford, Reddit mod and serial rapist? Serial rapist and Reddit mod Doreen Ford? Because I want to be certain that we’re taking about the same Doreen Ford who admitted to raping several people on a Facebook status and is a moderator on Reddit.

2

u/Neuro_Skeptic Jan 29 '22

Why has this post been removed?

5

u/ShawshankException Jan 27 '22

This sub was doomed anyway because it was plagued with obviously fake posts that would but r/TIFU and r/ChoosingBeggars to shame.

There hasn't been legitimate discussion on this sub for a while. The mods sat back and just didn't give a fuck.

5

u/DingleTheDegenerate Jan 27 '22

This is why I fucking despise anarchists. Every anarchist I've met has been an asshole in some way shape or form. I believe in the movement for workers rights and livable wages but humans are not capable of peaceful anarchy for fuck sake.

4

u/Daedricbanana Jan 27 '22

I dont get the link between this and anarchism, what they did is the opposite of what anarchism as an idea is

3

u/DingleTheDegenerate Jan 27 '22

Part of my gripe. Those that preach anarchy often misinterpret it as an excuse to be shitty to others. At least in my experience.

6

u/Daedricbanana Jan 27 '22

thats a very reasonable point, I share it and all I can say is no one who I know as an anarchist can help but laugh at the idiocy and hypocracy of what the mods did, and while youre right that it can be a cheap cop out, I genuinely believe it has nothing to do with the anarchist aspect

3

u/DingleTheDegenerate Jan 27 '22 edited Jan 27 '22

Yeah. Much like people misconstruing communism with autocracy. As a species were not responsible enough to reach true communism or true anarchism without abuse of power. I agree with the ideas behind anarchy but I am not a self proclaimed anarchist, and I've found people who declare themselves anarchist have been anything but.

3

u/quaranbeers Jan 27 '22

This sounds similar to a phenomenon that happens in "punk" subcultures. The nature of those subcultures certainly attracts folks who have aligned ideals and political attitudes, but the aesthetics of the subculture also attract shit-heels that just wanna fuck shit up and in general are assholes.

Absolute manchild losers. Every single one of them. Especially that parasite "Doreen".

3

u/[deleted] Jan 27 '22

all mods are pedophiles

4

u/expo1001 Jan 27 '22

Hi fellow workers!

If you'd like to discuss the US Labor Movement in a non-fucky environment, please consider visiting /r/USLaborMovement

I started it after the Fox teainwreck, when the mods in /r/AntiWork started banning people for complaining about their lies and betrayal of the community.

Stop on by if you'd like!

2

u/DiClaus Jan 27 '22

Imagine being so clueless that you declare yourself as a ‘21yo long unemployed anarchist’ moderating a sub like this and expect people to be happy and supportive. Seriously embarrassing, and shows a complete misalignment between the mods and the core values of this community

Fucking dog walking cunt deserves all the hate for thinking he owns this sub.

2

u/Baultenn1234 Jan 27 '22

Anarchists lol

2

u/RomeroPapaTango Jan 27 '22

Fuck the internet and fuck Reddit! Fucking gender confused pedophiles! Revolutions happen on the street, not online

2

u/DaBrookePlayz MODS BAD!!! WORK REFORM GOOD!!! Jan 27 '22

Agreed. Is rather be banned from a sub that encompasses not working.

Working makes you a part of society, and without it, you wouldn't have your device, the desk / bed you may be near, the electricity that powers all our devices, and I can go on. I get unionizing, and I support that, but being anti-work is just a synonym for being lazy.

1

u/Pepito_Prime Jan 27 '22

He should start to take a shower

1

u/[deleted] Jan 27 '22

banned, trolling.

you are nitpicking and biased i win, bye bye

1

u/colossalboom Jan 27 '22

Fucking shitty as mods for a shitty ass sub-reddit. Go fuck yourselves, Mods.

1

u/OkRoad6218 Jan 27 '22

Doing something worthwhile is literally what this sub is against
