Don't forget too easily that while this guy is a good poster boy for bad behavior, he is the convenient scapegoat that everyone can point to as a distraction from their own issues.

He's the face of what everyone else is doing.

This is the kind of positive news I was looking for!

Edit: seems like the dudes that bought it are cut from the same cloth. Womp womp.

u/StrangeShark408 Jan 15 '22

It's only positive if these dipshit NFT bros release it for the public. Anything short of that, fuck em.

4

u/RamenJunkie Jan 15 '22

They will release it in 5 second snippets as NFTs for $50,000 each and make bank.

2

u/bizzaro321 Jan 15 '22

Cool, a digital pirate would splice those together for the normal people who want to hear the album and some NFT jackasses will lose money.

1

u/mollila Jan 15 '22

The original sale has clauses preventing monetization for, was it about 100 years.

2

u/heyuwittheprettyface Jan 15 '22

TBH if they try to turn a profit by making it into something like the drawn NFTs where anyone can download the content without being the ‘owner’, I would be 100% be down with that.

26

u/OffNos Jan 15 '22

Nah they're a shitty NFT group looking to profit off it. It went from one shithead owning it to some different shitheads owning it.

u/ittozziloP Jan 14 '22

The original NFT

the only one with value

u/Main_Store_9112 Jan 14 '22

It's only a model.

11

u/Discreet_Deviancy Jan 14 '22

Think that album is worth about $64M to someone?

3

u/CriticoolHit Jan 14 '22 edited Jan 14 '22

I can nearly guarantee it's worth much much more to several others.

Whether they can afford to pay for that assigned value or not is another issue entirely lol.

EDIT: Weird thing to downvote but ok. Being stupid isn't a crime.

u/Viator_ Jan 14 '22

AFAIK it's not even a real album. It's just random verses that were recorded, not used, and then thrown over beats. They didn't go and make this album as a group without ever releasing it. Some producer or engineer spliced it together.

20

u/CriticoolHit Jan 14 '22

Yeah but fans go absolute bonkers for that never-released stuff. Even if it's bad (sometimes especially if it's bad). They just want to hear it all.

Wu Banga B-sides and remixes

u/Obi_Wan_Benobi Jan 15 '22

I used to collect Nirvana bootlegs when I was younger and yeah I wanted everything. I mean, as a community we wanted everything, and did anything we could to surface it all (some still are: www.livenirvana.com).

Although you’re also a little more desperate when the artist doesn’t exist anymore. Not sure how it is with other scenes, Nirvana is pretty much the only one I got that far into.

u/StrangeShark408 Jan 15 '22

some producer or engineer

Better put some respeck on tha gods name, RZA.

3

u/iaskquestionslol Jan 15 '22

It’s not RZA he’s talking about. It’s Cilvaringz or however you spell it. The clan didn’t come together for an album. They talk about it in one of their documentaries. Maybe ‘Of Mics and Men’.

u/slingbladegenetics Jan 15 '22

As much as I love Wu-tang, I hate to tell you they ran out of material a long time ago. I’m sure we’re not missing anything.

1

u/Cant_Do_This12 Jan 15 '22

Lol the fact they only released one copy is their fault. I love Wu-Tang, but that was a dick move.

1

u/jml011 Jan 15 '22

I mean, agreed, but every owner of the album has thus made the conscious decision to not release it (partially to preserve their investment but also for a misguided sense of pride in exclusivity) and are therefore also dicks.
