I can’t imagine being on y’all’s team and living in his shadow for my whole season lmao

1

u/ericfromct Jan 27 '23

I'm calling bullshit on that comment, it never happened. At least not from the commenter.

1

u/Elegant-Variety-7482 Jan 27 '23

The Woosh is strong with this one.

3

u/ericfromct Jan 27 '23

I was talking about the bot account talking about everyone on the team hugging the kid afterwords, there's no woosh just a bot saying nonsense

I missed it, and the shot... Those mechanic garage posters all over the back wall stole my attention and locked my gaze for the whole duration. Am guessing puberty boy there was probably looking at all the poster-babes on the side wall when he threw the ball as second fiddle to what he was really concentrating on.

297

u/GrilledCheeser Jan 26 '23 Holy Shit

It’s pretty much the opposite of pooping your pants in class

72

u/Viewtifultrey3 Jan 26 '23

Instead of dropping a 2, he dropped a 3.

10

u/AlesusRex Jan 27 '23

That comment was far to clever

36

u/johnnylongpants1 Jan 26 '23

If the same kid does both, which one wins out? How does he go down in high school history?

I'm guessing super shooter, shitty student.

32

u/DefNotAShark Jan 26 '23

I would imagine everyone else just starts pooping their pants, because it must be the cool thing to do.

12

u/echodivision5 Jan 27 '23

If pooping your pants is cool consider me Miles Davis.

3

u/sumredditguy Jan 27 '23

That was the grossest thing I ever heard in my life. Let's go!

6

u/Slevin424 Jan 27 '23

Nickname would forever be Shartshooter.

2

u/Oofboi6942O Jan 27 '23

Buzzer Beater except in the classroom

2

u/Sputtering_FartNoyze Jan 27 '23

Either way, that kid's the shit.

5

u/Important_Cupcake404 Jan 26 '23

Pooping in someone else's pants?

It’s funny what a young man recollects…

12

u/Funny-Bowel-Noises Jan 27 '23

But he's peaked. This was it.

He's gonna be chasing that dragon the rest of his life.

2

u/Vast-Bodybuilder-700 Jan 27 '23

BUT, his peak his higher than most peaks.

5

u/Goalie_deacon Jan 27 '23

Even into his 40s when he’s working in a mall shoe store

6

u/zazuspapa Jan 27 '23

The Al Bundy of middle school basketball

962

u/SomebodyButMe Jan 26 '23

It was the game winner too! 25-26 to 28-26

487

u/Valued_Rug Jan 26 '23 Eureka!

Home wears white, Visitors wear the color.

Parent or renta-ref scoreboard keepers don't hit the score button the instant the score is made and likely wait for the floor refs out of shock anyway.

So red makes the shot and the board looks like it shows 28-26 White.

That makes final score 29-28 Red.

94

u/ricomylico Jan 26 '23

You’re right, not sure why you’re being downvoted. You can see that it’s at 26 when the ball is in the air too

23

u/Valued_Rug Jan 26 '23

2

u/Dewy164 Jan 26 '23

Lmao that represents me rn

15

u/Dice_Enthusiast Jan 27 '23

I think it might be because they swapped score placement when summarizing:

" it shows 28-26 White."
"That makes final score 29-28 Red"

I thought they added 1 point to one team and 2 to the other for a second and almost downvoted out of confusion.

But idk just a guess.

63

49

u/ilikeYourwhip Jan 26 '23

The follow through of champions.

17

u/insight_from_inside Jan 26 '23

Always follow your shot.

29

u/beastwarking Jan 26 '23

He knew if he bent, turned, or titled, so too would the ball

3

u/Grigoran Jan 27 '23

24 with both hands over his mouth in shock is pretty good

397

u/Major_R_Soul Jan 26 '23

Enjoy that moment, kid. Statistically that's about as good as life's gunna get.

32

u/GiftedSon33 Jan 26 '23

Yes and every breath we take brings us closer to death 💀

15

u/NovaTedd Jan 27 '23

Every shit I take brings me closer to my death. What exactly is your point?

13

I was once thinking about this and I decided everyone has their "luckiest" moment they will ever experience in life. This kid just burned his and he isn't even out of middle school yet.

“And the best part…. I just stayed bent over looking backwards the whole time to stare it in!”

100

u/shadowvox Jan 26 '23

74

u/DarkenL1ght Jan 26 '23

Step aside, Step Curry.

37

u/deftdabler Jan 26 '23

Kids gonna being wading in cooties

27

u/iamricardosousa Jan 26 '23

Love how he just kept looking backward watching it go. Well done kid!

30

u/Deutschdagger Jan 26 '23

I did a shot like this in 8th grade (except with proper form) and got drilled by a kid trying to level me before the shot. I got it off and it went in but bc I went flying from the tackle it was called for traveling and not counted. Still pissed about it to this day

7

u/botbattler30 Jan 26 '23

Sounds like your ref knew less about the rules than most casual watchers

18

u/Euphoric_Can_2748 Jan 26 '23

this is what's called next level.

14

u/sbrown100 Jan 26 '23

I always love how he keeps watching it upside down lol. Almost doing a full back bend to keep an eye on his crazy shot. Can't believe it went in!

16

u/banana_muffens Jan 26 '23

He bout to be drowning in Capri suns. I see you my boy

14

u/YouJustLostTheGameOk Jan 26 '23

I remember being on the losing team of this exact same scenario as a kid and I assure you all of our whole team hugged that kid after he made that shot. We lost, but what a way to lose if you’re gonna lose.

2

u/Onlytimewilltellthen Jan 27 '23

It doesn’t matter if you lose or win when you’re able to witness a greatness that you’ll remember for the rest of your life.

8

u/spinx248 Jan 26 '23

I like the hold time and follow through. Kids got it.

9

u/ClouDoRefeR Jan 26 '23

This will be his Al Bundy moment.

7

u/nojokes4you Jan 26 '23

See you in the flippity flip.

7

u/TheThunderOfYourLife Jan 26 '23

Ah yes, the Yeetus Victorious in its natural habitat

5

u/PoopPhorPrez Jan 26 '23

I wonder if that’s teachable. Like the skyhook, might be able to develop an unblockable shot.

2

u/Darth_Shredder Jan 26 '23

The ref in the back got PUMPED!

2

u/ballin302008 Jan 26 '23

Was it for the win?

2

u/Desperate-You-9137 Jan 27 '23

I just watched this 11 times in a row

u/Kind_Appearance_343 Jan 26 '23

Yes great shop never give up,always keep going!👍💯

1

u/JerkfaceBob Jan 26 '23

I pity this kid. Everything's great now, but if he's not careful, he'll end up a future Uncle Rico.

Future Harlem Globetrotter right there.

1

u/harlojones Jan 26 '23

He peaked early 😭

1

u/PoopiestOfButtholes Jan 26 '23

There are so many great aspects to this video. Watching each person's reaction is golden. Truly next level OP

1

u/jmanseso Jan 26 '23

That was awesome

1

u/El-Vader-Tico Jan 26 '23

Even the Ref in the background looks like was celebrating this gem!

1

u/theraf8100 Jan 26 '23

The best part is him looking at the shot backwards lol

1

u/cryptoanalyst2000 Jan 26 '23

Humans sure do look like monkeys.

1

u/Konstant_kurage Jan 26 '23

Honestly I made the same shot at the buzzer at the same age. I hated basketball and it was the last game of the “season”. I just threw it from near half court as hard as I could and at the buzzer it went in. No video cameras in those days.

1

u/RelativeExisting8891 Jan 26 '23

Wtf, this looks like my old middle school gym. Exact layout

1

1

Selfish……. Could’ve passed to his open teammates smh

1

u/chedbomb Jan 26 '23

1

I hope that kid ends up at a karaoke bar 20 years from now and someone sings “glory days” for him.

1

u/Low_Worry2007 Jan 27 '23

Super awesome shot! Definitely among the greatest!!

🤔why is the gym decorated like a teen boys room with all the women on the walls?!?!

Great shot!

1

u/[deleted] Jan 27 '23

Very possible

1

u/optimist_prhyme Jan 27 '23

He practiced that shot for this moment

1

u/Appropriate_Hair_678 Jan 27 '23

Not a single black kid in sight sheeeeeesh

1

u/Axle_65 Jan 27 '23

That’s one of those shots that as the opposing team I wouldn’t even be mad to lose. I’d just be thinking “Wow!! Ok that was amazing! Good game.”

1

u/SpaceFreedom Jan 27 '23

Wow must suck to peak in middle-school for short downward spiral.

1

u/armyofspartans Jan 27 '23

Why a kid in a white jersey throw it backwards to the kid in the red jersey?

1

u/malacca73 Jan 27 '23

Excellent technique following the ball over his head rather than turning around to watch - it's all about the follow through!

1

u/Raunchiness121 Jan 27 '23

Ugly shot....HE'S ON FIRE!!!

1

u/Notice-me-somone Jan 27 '23

No no not the best. There is that clip of the kid who makes a full court shot with one hand at the final second

1

u/LysergicallyAcidic Jan 27 '23

The way he watched his shot while his head was upside-down

.. this kid grannies

1

u/Memnon- Jan 27 '23

Love the adults reaction hahah the kid blew their mind what a awesome young baller

1

u/sincitee_702 Jan 27 '23

1

u/syzzrp Jan 27 '23

Sorry, but that’s a travel

1

u/Q_S2 Jan 27 '23

The ref celebrated.

That cements legacy ladies and gents.

1

u/KratosHulk77 Jan 27 '23

damn has to be one of the greatest shots ever

1

u/Ducatirules Jan 27 '23

That kids gonna Al Bundy that moment his whole life!! It will be on his resume

1

u/Successful_Cap9836 Jan 27 '23

Even the refs calling “touchdown” 🤣🤣

1

u/kiiito Jan 27 '23

It is !

1

u/AwareMirror9931 Jan 27 '23

What a champ. And that's how a legend was born.

1

u/thefriendlycouple Jan 27 '23

Lucky beats good… sometimes.

1

u/Killahdanks1 Jan 27 '23

They can’t score more than 30 points in a game. They should all shoot like this all the time.

1

u/funnywastakentwice Jan 27 '23

All those days of playing around by shooting backwards paid off XD

1

u/Financial_Bird_7717 Jan 27 '23

Yes, but did he call ‘Kobe’ as he threw it?!

1

u/its_likethat Jan 27 '23

Half court reverse granny shot

1

u/MemesAreCoolio Jan 27 '23

Everybody's focused on the shot but I'm focused on the laugh. It sounds so much like Brook from One Piece.

1

u/Macaroon_5 Jan 27 '23

I love how excited all the dads get. Blue sweater in the back rocketed off the bleachers to the middle of the court so fast

1

u/datsall Jan 27 '23

Dudes gonna be knee dip in trim

1

u/Able-Procedure2492 Jan 27 '23

Also unreal pass, and clearly a good decision to get the ball to that kid

1

u/Isellmetal Jan 27 '23

God forbid that camera man focuses on the score board for a second

1

u/Euphoric_Shift6254 Jan 27 '23

And the final score team white 26 team red 4

1

u/Imzocrazy Jan 27 '23

I have to ask….are those cheerleaders pictures on the back wall?

1

u/TheUmbraCat Jan 27 '23

You know it’s good when even the ref does a little jump.

1

u/Ok-Statistician2164 Jan 27 '23

His parents be like Johnny so good at basketball he’s going to the NBA and so smart he could work for NASA too if he wanted

1

u/seventy70seventy Jan 27 '23

And one night in a bar he will tell the story to a stranger who will walk away thinking that it’s complete BS.

1

u/Asktherealpuestions Jan 27 '23

Did he win? It looks like 28/26 who got the points?

1

u/Ok_Builder6708 Jan 27 '23

This changes his life forever

1

u/Negative_Necessary69 Jan 27 '23

So much poon in store for that kid

1

u/scottyttocs Jan 27 '23

If he turned around Instead of leaned back to watch the ball he would have missed. Idk why but he would have lol.

1

u/LoserKevin Jan 27 '23

These kinds of games makes it seem like they are fun. In the Deep South, cops were called on multiple occasions because some parents thought the game was rigged and started railing on the refs. The refs had to be escorted out of the school.

In the last 2 weeks or so, 4 schools have called cops for escorting refs out of the building after the game.

1

u/CerealMaple114 Jan 27 '23

I did that in 6th grade at my school, and the whole gym just erupted. I stopped playing basketball the year after, since i hated it and was only there because i was forced to sign up. That was the only happy moment i had playing basketball

1

u/DjotaZilla Jan 27 '23

Next Curry

1

u/Phillyredsox Jan 27 '23

Even if that team lost that kid won.

1

u/I_have_questions_ppl Jan 27 '23

Talk about a hail mary! 😄

1

u/BoomTownRat71 Jan 27 '23

So sad. He used up all his luck at such a young age. 😭

1

u/Significant-Fix7399 Jan 27 '23

1

1

[deleted]

1

u/hodgesisgod- Jan 27 '23

Haha I love this. So good that the parent caught it on film. Now he can re watch the peak of his life forever.

1

u/sujovian Jan 27 '23

That wasn’t a pass, it was a steal. White inbounded, red stole then shot.

Why would white lob an inbound pass from their opponent’s baseline to half court with a second left? If white is shooting at the basket directly above the inbound, everyone is around the lane.

The only reason to heave that pass to half court is if your basket is at the other end. I think the red player’s half court shot was an own-goal.

1

u/Dman_Vancity Jan 27 '23

Enjoy it now kid - nothing lasts forever lol

1

u/Lillianroux19 Jan 27 '23

I'd rather see this than dunking anytime!

1

u/MrBroBotBrian Jan 27 '23

Definitely going to ESPN
