u/SideshowMelsHairbone Jan 27 '23

I was thinking at least 100. You’re probably right at 120. Insane.

u/itslexxiiii Jan 27 '23

maybe even 200. he’s falling for close to 3 seconds. probably going at like 20+ mph. free fall calculator gives about 200 ft with those mimbers

5

u/a_weak_child Jan 27 '23

More like 2.5 seconds

u/Arborcav Jan 28 '23

Gotta add in his speed prior to the hard fall wasy already close to 60 or 70 mph already

2

u/Arborcav Jan 28 '23

He slowed down a bit actually right before the jump so nvm

u/itslexxiiii Jan 28 '23

and no he def wasn’t going 60/70 mph. probably closer to 20. then you gotta factor in gravity affecting the 20 mph, so you have to split the 20 into two vectors.

Did you see my second comment?

Just like mountainbiking, there's something about a big drop that impresses me more than a big jump. It's so cool seeing humans concur gravity and mountains at such a scale. I don't know if there's any other sports besides MTB, Snowboard / Ski where you are the projectile and the field / court is a damn mountain. Gravity is both your opponent and teammate.

At the top I'm about to drop. The fresh powder makes my heart beat louder. I speed through the snow into the everlasting below. Oh to be so carefree with gravity.

Edit: Just noticed it’s called out previously

Perfect pairing of song and video. Amazing how well it syncs to the drop.

Reminds me of the ski game where you have to avoid trees and stuff

2

u/BelgianBeerGuy Jan 27 '23

Yes, came here to say exact this!!

And if you were good in avoiding things, there was a yeti or something that would eat you.

Huge drop, that was rad!

No wonder people get addicted to extreme sports.

Is this footage from That's it That's All?

1

u/squashua Jan 27 '23

Guess not, he's too young. Nice drop, that's no joke. If you haven't seen it, go watch That's It, That's All, it's phenomenal

1

u/Bumpass Jan 27 '23

Oh. So that's how I would die if I tried this.

u/Pinche_Pocho Jan 27 '23

He’s skiing on one ski!!

Something I’ve always wondered, what are the physics of doing something like this? If I jumped 200ft I would just be dead. Is it the forward moving momentum that stops every single bone in his body from being destroyed?
