Why did I initially see a road of dead rabbits.....
596
u/Jaguar_556 Jan 27 '23
Same lol. For a second, I thought that was just a bunch of skinned rabbits laying in the middle of the road.
151
u/Get-up-Yee Jan 27 '23
Not just me,phew...hahaha
55
u/RiveriaFantasia Jan 27 '23
Me too! I was freaked out for the first few seconds! I thought it was some weird wet market and I was thinking how twisted is this and I was disgusted but then a few seconds in I’m looking at the red / orange pieces and realised.
16
u/TealBlueLava Jan 27 '23
Same here! I thought “Are they going to eat the rabbits and take in their good luck….?”
5
u/TheUglyCasanova Jan 27 '23
I must have been eating very unlucky animals my entire life if that's how it works..
5
u/measlysnail95 Jan 27 '23
I really thought it was a whole lot of rabbit meat in the middle of the road.

My question is similar, but it boils down to one word. Why? Just Why. That is all.

Scares away bad omen and ghosts
36
11
u/usenotabuse Jan 27 '23
Yes, this year is said to be extremely bad luck and a tough year for all signs, hence the unprecedented number of crackers to ward off all the badr omens.
47
u/unscannablezoot Jan 27 '23
Makes about as much sense as setting all these crackers off, literally looks shit.

29
u/WattaTravisT Jan 27 '23
Can't be rabbits, it's duck season.
17
u/skeletonchaser2020 Jan 27 '23

Same lol was thinking what's the thought process here, like "let's celebrate the year of the rabbit by killing and skinning thousand of rabbits on the street!"

Looks great for the environment
889
u/Late-Effective5438 Jan 27 '23
Right? It doesn’t even look impressive, just some shitty firecrackers and a lot of smoke.
148
13
u/PuTheDog Jan 27 '23
That video didn’t convey how FUCKING LOUD that shit is, the noise is really the impressive part with this kind of firecrackers
144
u/charlesw117 Jan 27 '23
Just like fireworks on July 4th
74
u/TheMarsian Jan 27 '23
Fireworks should be relegated to the past.
24
u/nmyers93 Jan 27 '23
It's slowly happening as drone tech is improving. I think the drone shows timecoded are hella neat. Just wait till ai integration and better swarm logic get into play. One word "WoW"

Yep, together with all the rest of the fun.
It appears to me that many people are miserable and are angry that not everyone is.

u/TempestNova Jan 27 '23
I mean, at least 4th of July has artistry, this is just ... bleh. And really, major firework displays in most places only happen twice a year in the US -- 4th of July and New Years. Overall, I'm pretty sure fireworks aren't creating the majority of our* air pollution.
*again, US -- Idk about Asia in general...

u/Rando_username69 Jan 27 '23
Next fucking level pollution!

This is so dumb lol

Remember the “snake” fireworks. Yeah. This reminded me of that.
I think watching the physical money burn that they spent on that would be more fun.

Who needs an o-zone layer anyway?
285
u/pawnografik Jan 27 '23
This is smoke. Made of unburned particles. Bad for air quality and maybe a contributor to acid rain, but zero affect on the ozone layer.

u/Kawala_ Jan 27 '23

Just letting you know. The fact that you put a hyphen in the word ozone has made me so irrationally angry.

Celebrate with air pollution? This is why we can't have nice things.

Taiwan, wtf are you doing?? You’ve done a great job to rectify the damages done to the environment in the past, and then you do stupid shit like this?

What a better way to celebrate the year of the rabbit than doing exactly the opposite of what a rabbit would want

u/FknRepunsel Jan 27 '23
It was stressing me out how people were standing in the middle of them
2
u/BenofMen Jan 27 '23
That and how some of the fire crackers were just so casually strewn about the street, total disregard to personal and area safety. All it takes is tripping and having the chain catch up to you, or some lazily placed that result in a large fire
2
13
u/Flaky_Notice Jan 27 '23
Just remember somebodies doing shit like this the next time you feel a bit guilty for not recycling your drink straw.
2
u/grendali Jan 27 '23
Exactly. Whenever I feel guilty about punching my grandmother in the face, I just remember that somebody else murdered an old woman once, and then I feel fine.

Quantity of firecrackers makes sense, given that rabbits are involved. Each firecracker represents a baby.

They’re going to regret wasting all that gun powder when communist China launches their invasion.
2

Ironically Chinese monks discovered gunpowder, and then used gunpowder for celebrations. Until it fell into the wrong hands.

u/PakiFanatic Jan 27 '23
I saw a road or carrots and rabbits about to unleashed at them… showing how a flood of rabbit can eat tons of carrots in 30 seconds. I stand corrected, dudes just needed an excuse to destroy the environment!

Is it really worth the clean up for that? There doing during daylight so it looks pretty shit

u/shawsown Jan 27 '23
After seeing that video of the Chinese zoo doing the year of the tiger handing over to the rabbit....by using an actual tiger and rabbit with the rabbit being held next to the tiger-yeah, that ended exactly how one would expect. I honestly thought this was just going to be a road full of rabbits that were being exploded.

Bet they never considered ‘carbon off-setting’ this profligacy!?
3
u/Yugan-Dali Jan 27 '23
No, the current administration rose to power on an anti-nuke platform, so they still use coal burning plants to produce electricity.

Jan 27 '23
Did not realise that Rabbits were explosive ?
Great Ad though ......
Can't give your girl an orgasm ?
Well don't worry !
Gift her the Taipei rabbit pocket vibrator !
Made in Taiwan !
She will have long and multiple loud explosive orgasms!
So just pump , drop your load and finish off that video game level as she is finishing her self!
2
u/xXSpaceturdXx Jan 27 '23
And I used to think it was impressive when somebody had one that was 100 foot long. This is like thousands of those.
2
u/Lightning_Bee Jan 27 '23
Omw to the flight back from Taiwan, can attest they are very loud and are everywhere
