Right, we see this all the time in my line of work.
I’m in accounting and compliance for a nation wide non-profit housing company. We work mainly with subsidized housing communities.
It is upsettingly common to hear of people in our communities that have to handicap their own success in order to keep their subsidies. The leap from being subsidized to being self sufficient is just to great a leap to make, so their only real option to remain subsidized.
There is a HUD program called the FSS Program that is supposed to help address this issue. https://www.hud.gov/program_offices/public_indian_housing/programs/hcv/fss
And it actually works great! (When it’s adequately funded). By encouraging our residents to sign up for this HUD programs, we are able to see them improve lives gradually. So that they can build up to becoming self sufficient. With the end goal of getting themselves off of subsidies. But at their own pace, and without being penalized in a way that forces them to chose between self improvement and housing.
Unfortunately, the program isn’t available everywhere. The implementation of it was haphazard and poorly ran. (Thanks to the previous administration.) Hopefully things can only improve going forward.
I mean... Captain America had a whole scene of punching Hitlers.
Ouch, right in the feels.
I just stumbled across this sub today. And, as much as it hurts to acknowledge it, it feels a little therapeutic to have found a group that is going through the same emotions as I am.
Dude! I went to my Gma’s house for lunch last Sunday, and she was showing off her new frying pan that she got at a yard sale for $0.50. It was a Le Cruset! I was blown away!
Like wow Gma, if you find another one, get it for me please.
God DAMN that was good!
No.... The take away is that Fox lies. A lot.
They lied by saying the other networks were avoiding the story. When a ridiculously quick search proved that the other networks did in fact cover the same story too.
I used to care enough for an argument like that to bother me.
But after the last two elections, I just don’t anymore.
These people in red states have been voting against their own interests, and the nation’s interests, for long enough. It’s way passed time that they feel the consequences of their votes.
Insert Captain America “I know that reference!” meme.
I’d make an exception for FEMA emergency funding. But otherwise, hell yeah!
Looks like the winner is option C!
Years back, I think during the 2012 campaign, Biden was trash talking Republicans and while talking to a majority black audience said to them “They’re going to put you all back in chains!” Referring to the GOP and Wall Street. It wasn’t a great sound bite. But he wasn’t wrong.
Perhaps it’s because the country wasn’t actually “on fire” last year. I know Fox News liked to pretend that every single BLM march turned into a riot, but that simply wasn’t true.
NTA. Spending weekends in the boat might be a fine compromise. But living on it full time? Hell no.
If it was posted by a “normal” person, I’d be likely to believe the tweet was genuine. But since it’s from a politician, I’m more skeptical than normal.
Yes. Yes that’s true.
Are all D’s good? No, but 9/10 of them are better than all the R’s.
Right?! After I read the story, I immediately thought of this sub. And was very surprised to see it hadn’t been posted here yet!
Ohhhh!! I like this. I think I’m going to use it on my aunt.
Damn, that’s just sad.
The Onion doesn’t have shit on reality anymore.
Yep, I fully support being a well armed liberal.
Omg, it’s like you just described my office too!
Right! Our payroll team is segregated from the rest of the accounting team. Makes sense from an internal controls perspective. But damn, it would be nice if the payroll guys paid some attention to how their entries effect the rest of the GL! But at least we try to catch their errors BEFORE passing it on to the auditors.
I always liked to call them Talibangelicals
Except the targets they want to blow up are not the people that are responsible for all those problems. The R’s themselves are the core culprits for all of those issues.
The D’s are far from perfect. But the R’s are straight up working towards inequality and oppression of the common man.
Edited a word for clarification.
